A prized element of this annual event is the opportunity it gives the ISIA to recognise those individuals. groups or organisations that have shown exceptional courage or made a significant contribution to the safety and security of the island of Ireland and its people with the Courage Award and the Premier Award, Paul Lynch Memorial Trophy. Each accolade is always a highlight of the annual event and the ISIA is thrilled to have the continued support of OCS One Complete Solution as sponsor of the Courage Award and of MITIE who have once again sponsored the Premier Award, Paul Lynch Memorial Trophy.

Over the past 20 months Irish industry depended so much on the continuity of security services to maintain our safety while many of us were restricting our movements. Family Carers Ireland

This year the ISIA wishes to recognise carers across Ireland. Family Carers Ireland is the national charity supporting the 500,000 family carers across the country who care for loved ones such as children or adults with physical or intellectual disabilities, frail older people, those with palliative care needs or those living with chronic illnesses, mental ill-health, or addiction. There are always enormous challenges faced by family carers, but the pandemic really amplified this. This group of people are truly the forgotten front line. The ISIA was pleased to be able to recognise the work that these people do, and the crucial supports Family Carers Ireland provide them with by presenting Family Carers Ireland with this year’s Courage Award.

Since 1985 the Paul Lynch Memorial Trophy has been awarded to an individual or group in recognition of a major contribution to the safety or security of the island of Ireland and her people. The award is a specially commissioned sculpture depicting a pair of clasped hands, which symbolize caring, strength and protection. It is presented in honour of Paul Lynch who died suddenly at the age of 38 during his term as President of the Irish Security Industry Association (ISIA).

Iris Nurses and Midwives Organisation
This year the ISIA is delighted to be able to recognise the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO)

Irish Nurses and Midwives have always deserved our recognition but never did this become clearer to us than during this pandemic. The Irish Nurses and Midwives of Ireland were faced with the virus every day and cared for all those who suffered with it. Not only did they provide these people with the essential medical care they required, but they were the people at their bedside when their families and loved ones were prevented from being there. They were the comfort for every person who passed through the COVID wards, the ICU beds and in the worst scenarios they were the people who provided the emotional comfort and support in the final hours of life.

The risks that Irish Nurses and Midwives take for our healthcare, our emotional support and to ensure our safety and security are enormous and their dedication is immeasurable. The ISIA feels privileged to be able to recognise their work with this year’s Premier Award, Paul Lynch Memorial Trophy.
