The Security Industry Joint Labour Committee (JLC) recently confirmed its representatives which will begin negotiations on an employment regulation order (ERO) in June.
The Irish Security Industry Association (ISIA), which represents 70 per cent of the industry has had three representatives confirmed to participate as members of the JLC. The three confirmed represenatives are ISIA Guarding Division Chairman, Alan Durnan of Brinks Ireland. Durnan served as a represenative on the previous JLC prior to the high court ruling in July 2011 which deemed JLC's unconstitutional. John O'Donoghue, Vice Chairman of the ISIA's Guarding Division, will also take a seat on the JLC. O'Donoghue who is Group CEO of NOONAN held a seat on the Joint Industrial Committee (JIC) which negotiated the Registered Employment Agreement (REA) that the future ERO is likely to be heavily based on. Jim Dolan of ISS will hold the ISIA's third seat and has extensive experience in this area from his involvement in the negotiations of the cleaning industries REA.
Negotiations are expected to commence before the end of June.
